Some learning notes on home appliance repair.

Dishwasher

• [11/15/23] Dishwasher starts making buzzing & squealing noise.
  • Machine: Bosch series-100 SHXM4AY55N 24".
    • Holding reset button for 3 seconds to reset the machine does not work.
    • Replaced drain pump 00631200 / AP5972147 but the problem persists.
  • Causes for dishwasher noise:
    • Pump obstructions, broken impellers, worn out bearings, loose wash arm, etc.
    • Circulation pump assembly replacement

Dishwasher Parts

• Drain pump: uses impeller to force water through the drain hose to garbage disposal.
  • Pump impeller broken or clogged with debris may cause droning noise.
• Circulation pump: uses impeller to force water through the spray arms.
  • May share the same motor with drain pump.
  • Usually located at the bottom of the dishwasher. Need to place dishwasher on its back to access the pump.
